It’s a labyrinth / demon dungeon even a Level-1 adventurer can enter without worry—and once you’re in, it’s a dead end in about 10m. Six snack bars operate along the street. The real adventure starts once you step inside one.

Even in this shady-looking space, there’s a bench to rest on—surely a place for an adventurer to catch their breath before the next demon dungeon (snack bar). Or maybe, when a snack-bar dungeon is packed with adventurers, it’s a waiting bench.

Along the street are 5 to 6 snack bars, with the heavy doors typical of the genre. Peeking through gaps, you catch flashes of a safe, inviting size and brightness. They look easier to walk into than you’d expect.

The Picturesque Mamas of “Sapporo Snack Street”

Several snack bars sit inside Snack Street, and on the signboard out front, photos of the Mamas line up together. Mama-sans in kimono and Western dress smile from the signboards—hard to choose, so pick one and go in.

Sapporo Snack Street is located on the 1st floor of the “Okura Building,” one of the iconic buildings of Susukino.

The building entrance itself is ordinary, but as you go deeper into the passage, a stone gate–like structure suddenly appears—like another world. Right near the streetcar “Susukino Stop,” it’s an easy second stop after a first party nearby.

About a 3-minute walk from Subway Namboku Line “Susukino Station,” and also within walking distance of Hosui-Susukino Station—right in the heart of the nightlife district. Along the alley one block east of Ekimae-dori, as you head deeper from the building entrance, that otherworldly “medieval European temple” space suddenly appears.

I think every man knows that torn feeling over which shop to enter—but the word “Lupin” ticks a boy’s heart. There’s something I want to steal. “Your heart!” Part of me wants to play it cool like Inspector Zenigata and charm the hostesses; Daisuke Jigen is cool too.

Stepping into Snack Bar “LUPIN,” I felt relief at the Mama and hostesses who welcome you into a bright interior. One set runs 60 minutes, and even treating the hostesses to drinks, you’ll have change from 10,000 JPY per person—a wallet-friendly snack bar by modern nightlife standards.

The fun hostesses keep the conversation going, so you can drink and relax—but what probably steals most customers’ hearts most of all are the Lupin figures on the wall. That I was comparing Fujiko Mine’s figure with the hostesses is a secret.
